Title Research: Watch the Titles Website

Image
After visiting the 'Watch the Titles Website' I was wowed by many title sequences. I visited this website to conduct research on different title sequences for my two minute project film. I will be using different title designs for my project, so it is essential that I complete some research on it before I actually get started on it. I came across many different title sequences. They all included descriptions explaining what the title sequence was made for. It also explains the process the title sequence went through to be produced. I also saw the title sequences in motion. All of which I saw were unique and creative. I learnt that important title sequence such as the ones I viewed on the website takes a lot of team work to make. Overall, these sequences all look like they took a lot of time to perfect and it amazes me how much team work and effort it takes to produce such beautiful styles.

Title Research: Art of the Title Website

Image
After viewing the Art of the Title Website, I learnt so many new things about title designs. The main purpose I viewed this site was because I will be including and designing titles for in my two minute final task. In the website, I saw a variety of title sequences. These title sequences were made for a variety of genres. The title sequences included descriptions underneath which explains how the title sequence was brought up and who they were designed by. Some of the descriptions also have mini interviews where they explain how the designers get the opportunity to design for other projects. I learnt how different styles of the titles are told apart. For an example, some styles are recognized by year. There are styles named the '2020s' and styles named '1950s'. Overall the site is full of the great and unique styles.

Genre Research: Everything, Everything

Image
After watching 'Everything, Everything' I noticed they used the drama elements thoughts, character, and theme. Maddy who is a smart girl has never left the sealings of her home because of her overprotective mother because of an "illness". Olly lives next door from Maddy and will do anything to get her to experience life. The life she never was able to experience. This is the plot of the film. The film uses the element of character which is Olly. If it weren't for Olly, Maddy would've never left her life. She would have never been able to experience the real joy of life. She would have also never figured out that her mom has been lying to her for her whole life. The theme of the whole plot was to never be too afraid too do something. Maddy went against her fears and her moms and went outside with Olly. Lastly the film used the element of thought. So many things could have been interpreted after watching this movie. What I personally got from this film was to n...

Genre Research: Dreamgirls

Image
After watching the film 'Dreamgirls', I noticed they used the drama elements sound, thought, plot, and character. Deena, Effie, and Lorrell are a music trio originally naming themselves the dreamettes. They meet an manger, Curtis Taylor Jr. who promises to take them to the top. The manger then takes too much control from the girls and then began to cause them to break apart one by one. This is the plot of the film. The film uses a lot of music. Some songs that they include are 'Listen' which was sung by Deena. Deena sung this song to express how she was feeling. She felt as if the manger wasn't listening to her from within. Another song that was sung was 'And I am Telling I'm Not Going' which was sung by Effie. Effie sang this song to express the hurt that she was feeling inside. The music of the film helped express some parts of the parts as well. The character of the film would be Curtis. Although he had done nothing but bad things for the group. He re...

Genre Research: Me Before You

Image
In the movie 'Me Before You', the film includes the elements of drama, which are plot, character, and thought. Louisa Clark begins to work with a wealthy banker who was paralyzed from an tragic accident. She begins working for this banker, Will Traynor because she needs to help her family with the bills. In the beginning of the film, Will feels as if there is nothing else to live for but Louisa cheerful  attitude leaves him to begin to realize that life is worth more than what he thought. This is the plot of the film which ends sadly. The film uses character which is Louisa Clark. The story is about Will Traynor's depressing life. Then Louisa is placed in the plot to play as the hero or the one who brings the happiness Will had back to his life. The last element this film uses from drama is thought. I feel like the moral of the story circulated around happiness in life or satisfaction with life. The moral of the story varies which leaves the audience in thought. The elemen...

Genre Decision

Image
After doing research on the two genres which were romance and drama, I decided to choose drama. I chose drama because I knew it would fit perfectly with my short film just by looking at my pitch. If I had chosen romance, then it would have been harder for me to find actors to play the part. When I visualize myself doing the genre romance, I realize that I wouldn't have a setting or actors to fulfill the elements. I also wouldn't be able to fulfill the conventions of the film. I would have loved to film a romance film because that is one of my favorite genres when it comes to film. It would have been fun and it would have allowed me to be more into my final task. I also feel like drama will be fun to film. I have perfect settings for the film. I also can include romance as a sub-genre which makes it a "win win" situation for me. Since I want to grab the audience attention with my final task, including many conflicts in my drama film will leave great cliff hanger. I am...

Genre Research: Romance and Drama

Image
Romance Common camera shots used in romance are over the shoulder, mid-shot, close up and long shot. Over the shoulder shot is used in romance to show the emotion and body language of the actors while they speak. Close up shot is used to capture the mood or feelings of the character at the current moment. Mid-shot is used to show how the two characters feel about each other. It is used to capture the connection of the two characters.  Common lighting used in romance is normally three-point. This is used to leave the focus on the two main characters in each scene. Urban areas, schools with local diners are usually where romance films are filmed. Some examples of the romance genre are 'A Star Is Born' and 'To All The Boys Always and Forever' Drama Lighting used in drama usually are three-point or high key lighting. The lighting is used to set the mood of the scene and match the setting. Camera angles used in drama films are low angle, high angle, and canted angle. Low ang...

Genre Research: Horror

I researched the horror genre. While researching I learnt about the common lightings and mise-en-scene used. I also learnt about the common camera angles and movements. Horror films commonly use low, canted, high, and over the shoulder camera angles. Low camera angles are used to show the dominance of the villain in horror films while high camera angles are used to show how weak the victims are. Canted angles are used to dramatize the scenes and over the shoulder camera angles are used to build suspense for the horror film. The most common lighting used in horror films are three-point lightings and low lightings. Three point lightings are used so that the audience can see the full costume of the villain. Low lightings are used so that so villain can appear more frightening. Common camera movements that are used in horror films are zooming, tilt,  hand held, and tracking. Zooming camera movement is used to further dramatize the victims reaction in horror films. Handheld camera...

My Pitch

Image
Pitch 1-  A girl thinking she was just an American girl soon finds out she is more important than she thinks and is in great danger.  Pitch 2- A girl who was told both her parents died in a car crash begins to realize there is more to their story. For pitch one, I believe I would be interested in filming it because I am attracted towards stories like the this one. When typing the pitch, I had so many visions on what I can include in the film. In my head, this pitch holds so much potential. The only reason why I wouldn't be interested in filming this pitch is because when I think of the props and the location this would need to be filmed, I realize that it could possibly cost me time and money. I want to make this project perfect since its the final task. I want to show creativity. If my location doesn't match which the storyline, it would throw the whole thing off. For Pitch two, I would be interested in doing it because I know it would be easy for me to do. Unlike for t...

Starting the Final Task

Image
My name is Emily Fleurinor and I am in the 10th grade. I am a fifth-teen year old student. I go to Fort Lauderdale High for the Cambridge and magnet school. I have completed two Cambridge classes so far. I have taken general paper and global perspective. I have taken criminal justice and comprehensive law so far in the magnet program. I take part in the auxiliary line at my school. The part I take in is the dance. I will be starting my final task this month, which is the month of February. I will be completing the final task alone because I want to be in full control of my final grade. I don't want to have to follow along with any other idea that a person may make. I also want to complete this assignment alone because I don't want to be too dependent on my partner. Usually when I work with someone, I lose intertest in the project or I feel rushed. I want to be able to submit my ideas and work at my on pace and submitting it before the time that it is due. I do also believe it ...
