Filming Blog: Making each scene match its time

Image
For my music video I filmed during the day. The whole plan for my music video was thrown off completely. I was not able to film in a kitchen or a bedroom as I said I would in my planning blog. I chose to fill in those two settings with the garden. Since the garden is a big place I filmed in different areas of the garden. I filmed the sky and the trees for the beginning of the music video. While I was filming in the garden, I realized that I was filming in the wrong angle. I will be recording the two scenes that were filmed the wrong way tomorrow. Next, I decided to film in the laundry. My actor and I couldn't get to work right away because how busy it was in the laundry. So we decided to film backwards. We went straight to the last scene which should be on the staircase. While on the staircase, we decided to complete the other staircase scene. I filmed this scene with both a wide shot and a tilt angle. After the staircase scenes, we were able to go back to the laundry to film that...

Planning for my Music Video

My song title name is 'POV' by Ariana Grande. Props: In my music I will be using a lot of different props. I intend to use a hair brush, magazine, mirror, food, and more. I would also like to use a exercise machine in one of the scenes. Costumes: There will be one actor for this music video. The actor will be wearing simple outfits. Outfits that consists of jeans and graphic tee. Another outfit will be pajamas which consists of long pants and a fitted short sleeve cotton top. If not the cotton top, I will use a purple furry sweater. The next outfit will be almost the same as the jeans and top but maybe a different colored top. I would like to include to more outfits. One being very unique and/or exotic and the other being another outfit that someone would stylishly work out in. Schedule: On 11/17/20, I will complete my research convention blog. On 11/17/20, I will complete my planning blog where I establish my props. costumes, schedule, location list, and back up plan. On 11/1...

Research blog: Music Video Conventions

Image
I will be making a music video for the song pov by Ariana Grande. The genre for this song is pop. Usually in pop music videos there is a plot. The plot goes along with the music and what its about. The singer is usually in the video lip sync to the song. Sometimes they use hired actors to be the main person of the video. Then, sometimes there is both the singer and hired actors. The costumes for pop music video can be anything. It ranges from pajamas to a whole fashion outfit. It also ranges from something completely simple to something exotic and unique. Usually the colors of the costumes are neon colors or very bright colors. There are times when the costumes are also dark or just neutral. Lighting for pop music videos varies. Since sometimes pop music videos go by a plot, scenes changes. As scenes changes then lighting can change which all depends on the plot. It can either use one type of lighting throughout the video or it can change in every few scenes. The acting in pop mus...

Introduction to the Music Video Project

Image
During the making of this music video I will be working alone. I like to work independently because I don't like being too dependent. I chose to get all the work done by myself. It allows me to be more creative. It also allows me to work at my own pace. The song I chose for this project is pov by Ariana Grande. I chose this song because I love the melody of it. It flows nice along with Ariana's smooth vocals. When I heard this song, I could already start to picture out how my music video would turn out. I also felt as if the song was more appropriate for school. There was no need to find a clean version. The meaning of the song was not bad. Since the project has a maximum of one minute, I chose this song. When this song reaches up to one minute it can be stopped perfectly as if that was the end of the song. If I had chose any other song it would have been harder for me to cut the song off perfectly.  Overall, I believe that this project will be a fun experience. This project ...

How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or issues? In my product I used a lot of conventions that a regular luxury brand would have used. I included the props that are usually used in Louis Vuitton commercials. I also used the same costume convention. I didn't challenge the conventions that are used in luxury brand commercials. This represents social groups How does your product engage with audiences AND how would it be distributed as a real media text? My product engage with the audience by appealing to them and showing relations. The commercial uses pathos to engage with the audience. The pathos is used so that the audience can see themselves in the commercial. I also included the audience by making the first part of the product look like they were watching a original tape. This would be distributed as a commercial. How did your production skills develop throughout this project?   My production skills improved a lot throughout th...

My Commercial

During the build up of my project I have learnt so much. Filming and editing projects is so new to me. I have made so many changes towards my commercial. In other words, I did somethings differently then what I said in my other blogs. My commercials message was that Louis Vuitton can make you look good and confident in anything. If I could have done anything differently I would. I would have added more props like flowers or anything that would have matched the theme of the film. I would have also have back up actors. My commercial only included one actor because the three couldn't make it to be in my commercial. I would have back up actors so that if anything like that would happen I would still have other actors as back up. I wanted to have more than one actor so that the commercial could have been more diverse. I believe if the commercial was more diverse, then the message would have been made more clear. I learnt so much more about editing. I feel as if this project has made my...

Editing Blog: Making each scene perfect

Image
Editing the commercial was something that was new to me. I started by making sure all the scenes were where they needed to be. I had to cut out some parts of each scene because the commercial was over the time limit. This is when I had to decide which part of each scene was more important or relevant. In my Louis Vuitton commercial, there was supposed to be a scene where the camera follows the actor from toe to head but I decided to cut that part out for the part when the actor shows off the bag. After I had made sure that the commercial would only be thirty seconds, I started to focus on adding extra edits in each scene. I decided to use a VMS filter for all the scenes that were filmed at the pool. I wanted to add different filters for each scene. I decided against this idea because it made my commercial look sloppy. The scenes that were filmed in the lounge room and the office does not include filters because I wanted to keep the clean look they gave off. I used the VMS filter becaus...
