Research blog: Music Video Conventions

 I will be making a music video for the song pov by Ariana Grande. The genre for this song is pop. Usually in pop music videos there is a plot. The plot goes along with the music and what its about. The singer is usually in the video lip sync to the song. Sometimes they use hired actors to be the main person of the video. Then, sometimes there is both the singer and hired actors.

• The costumes for pop music video can be anything. It ranges from pajamas to a whole fashion outfit. It also ranges from something completely simple to something exotic and unique. Usually the colors of the costumes are neon colors or very bright colors. There are times when the costumes are also dark or just neutral.
• Lighting for pop music videos varies. Since sometimes pop music videos go by a plot, scenes changes. As scenes changes then lighting can change which all depends on the plot. It can either use one type of lighting throughout the video or it can change in every few scenes.
• The acting in pop music videos also varies. The actors in the music videos match the emotions and the vibes that are given off from the music.
• The actors in pop music videos are usually done. The makeup is rarely done naturally unless the costume of the video is simple or chill. The makeup is usually done in bright colors that go with the actors face.
• There are a lot of props. There are a lot because most pop music videos have scenes that are different from each other which includes different and many props. These props can be fashion accessories, food, bags, brooms, etc. The prop can be anything depending on how the scene is set up.
• Pop music videos are set up in places like the pool, a bedroom, restaurants, kitchens etc.
